La première semaine était incroyable

Hello friends,

As promised, I am keeping up with my blog once per week so that yinz back in the states can have peace of mind of two things a) I am still alive and haven't fallen off the face of the earth and b) I am still being a servant to the Lord and listening to His beckoning call and the things He is asking of me whilst in France, which arguably is far more important than dying.

Anywho, I thought you all would like to know that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE France. J'adore. C'est tellement beau. Ahh. And the food...oh my gosh the food. I firmly believe you have not lived until you try French food. It is that good. I am so blessed to have gotten such a great opportunity to minister to very lost people who live in such a beautiful place with such great food. Haha.

Which brings me to the really really truly good stuff. Though the food is hard to compare to, the ministry and the things that I am jumping in on here are even better. And I reallyyyyyyy like food so that means a great deal coming from me. But seriously. I will be helping the only Protestant church in the area with their website, I literally just a few seconds ago finished a prayer and contact card for the church that will be printed sometime this week and handed out. I started my language classes yesterday so my French is getting better! Hopefully, soon I'll be able to have some spiritual conversations with people in French!

My team is absolutely wonderful. I love the people I am working with here. They all have such a heart for the Lord and it shows through in all they do. Being long-term on the field is not an easy job and the more time I spend with them the more I realize that and the more I appreciate all they do for me and for the people of Bayonne-Biarritz.

As far us ministry updates, I am helping get a campus bible study started at the local universities in Bayonne, which is going very well. The training for all of that is actually this week so the first study should happen next week. The team here in Bayonne is just getting started and still trying to figure out different ways and the best ways to minister to the majority agnostic/secular population here in France. But this is a new and big thing that will be starting here in Bayonne and I am very excited to be a part of it!

There are many other things I will be getting involved in once I get a little bit more settled in and know a bit more French...which should be shortly considering my language classes are 4 hours long 5 days per week and my teacher speaks no English whatsoever, however he does speak Spanish so I am able to ask him all of my questions in Spanish...BUT that just creates a lot of confusion in my mind because I am going from English to Spanish to French to Spanish to English to French to Spanish to English to French and as you can imagine, after 4 hours that becomes a little exhausting and I am a little drained. I would very much appreciate some prayer over that situation because I have ministry that I need to be doing after my classes are over and I am so tired it is very hard to be at my best.

I went to visit a town in the Tarbes Mountains called Lourdes at the end of last week to visit a missionary there who is literally the only person on her team. She is a single woman ministering to the people of Lourdes on her own. She has started a church and done amazing things already by herself in the short two years that she has been in Lourde. And though I am sure she would love to have more people on her team, she is doing pretty amazing things as a team of two (her and God). She was a real inspiration to me, a true example of an ordinary world changer. She inspires me and I learned so much from her courage.

I don't think there is too much else to cover, after my first week here I have become acclimated to French culture and the way of life. It's very tiring and not the easiest thing but I very much enjoy it. I am learning so much about myself and about the Lord and people and faith and ministry and being a missionary and all of it is just so great and beautiful and wonderful and ahhh I love this so much. Thank you all so much for supporting me being able to go and do this is such a huge blessing to me and I hope you all know that. <3
